Chain stitches are the foundation of most crochet projects, and they are easily the most fun. With just chain stitches you can create so many things - necklaces, lanyards, mask chains, even the hanging loops on my Mini Dots Potholders are just chains.
Tip : for those who hate to count chain stitches, i prefer to just make a whole string of them and then count them at the end, adding or ripping out stitches till the correct chain count. Or if I'm working on a back and forth flat piece, I would just crochet a long string of chains, and continue to the next round. At the end of the project, I can easily unpick and rip out any spare starting chains. But first, let's learn how to crochet chains!
