How are you removing your makeup every night?
To allow our skin to breathe and heal at night, it is essential that we first remove our makeup properly. By just using a face wash or makeup wipes, we end up just smearing makeup & oil throughout our face, causing excess sebum, pollution & dust to stay trapped in our pores.
Makeup removers are oil-based cleansers that are specifically designed to dissolve the pigments & waterproof formulations that exist in our makeup, and we should always cleanse away makeup first. Tip: even if you’ve only applied tinted moisturiser or sunscreen, you should still use a makeup remover first!
Here are some tips on how to effectively cleanse away makeup, whether you’re using a cleansing oil, cleansing balm or milk, or simple micellar water.
Cleansing with micellar water
Pour micellar water liberally onto a dry cotton round.
Hold to lash area for several seconds for the liquid to be absorbed and gently wipe away eye makeup.
Repeat for rest of face, taking care to work the rounds into the nose / mouth lines, hairline, and jawline.
Rinse makeup round and wipe again around the face until all makeup has been removed.

Cleansing with oil or cream-based makeup removers
Pour cleansing oil or scoop balm/cream onto dry palms.
Use the heat of your hand to warm up the product slightly then spread thoroughly over dry face.
Dampen reusable cotton round with warm water and massage onto skin with gentle circular motions, focusing on areas that need attention (like eye makeup).
Rinse the cotton round, and use it to wipe off excess oil or balm.
Followup with a foaming facial wash for double-cleansing.

Cleansing with foaming facial wash
After you’ve removed your makeup, if you prefer to double-cleanse, you can reuse that same facial round again. Simply pump your facial wash directly onto the sponge and work around the face in small circular motions. Rinse the sponge and wipe till clean.
